memoQ 5.0 is a major release which introduces many improvements to the workflow.
The AuditTrail concept adds more value to memoQ and simplifies the translation workflow with Versioning, Track Changes, X-Translate and the Post Translation Analysis.
- Versioning. Who has changed what and when? Managing the translation and review stages in files is a hard job. Comparing the stages is even harder. Do it quickly. memoQ stores all changes, stores the username of the person who changed things and also a timestamp, and offers meaningful reports and comparison options. From the first source version through several updates to the source version to multi-review target workflows, keep all stages of the workflow in a single document. Add the dimension of time to your documents!
- Track changes. What is the most efficient way of seeing the changes between your translation and the proofread version? You have to translate it with your translation tool, export both versions and make a comparison in Word. What happens if you translated XML-based or InDesign files? Well, things get more complicated then. Don’t worry about finding changes in the revised document: memoQ shows the difference between the two in a visualized manner highlighting inserted and deleted sections in the editor.
- X-translate. It happens so many times that clients change the content in the source files while you are working on the translation. Changes are easy to follow if you have only a few files to check. What about having hundreds of such files? Using X-translate, source texts are being monitored during the re-import process and changes are displayed immediately. X-Translate matches come where there is no change. And memoQ can even export an HTML analysis of what has changed.
Besides AuditTrail, the following features are available in memoQ 5.0
- Analysis on formatting tags. Processing and inserting formatting tags can be a time-consuming process. To properly assess the workload of a project, you must be able to see the number of tags in the source text before you start working on the translation project. Let's just check it in the translation statistics output!
- Asia Online (MT) integration (Added in memoQ 5.0.53). You can access the Asia Online service from the online project manager, submitting one or more documents at a time for translation. Your account details, in turn, can be configured in the Server administrator.
- Cascading filters. Got an Excel file that contains HTML content where you may not break the tags? Or an HTML file that contains placeholders? You can connect the output of one filter to the input of another, and you can use powerful regular expressions to turn any type of non-translatable content into memoQ tags. You can also reuse these configurations and importing complex files is a single click afterwards.
- Content Connectors. Large translation projects can continue for several months or even years. In these projects, the source materials are usually stored in a content management or version control system. To keep track of the stream of new versions of source materials, memoQ not only follows those changes that were implemented in your documents but also monitors the CMS, your Subversion and FTP folders and assigns changed and new content for translation.
- MyMemory integration. MyMemory has been created collecting TMs from the European Union, United Nations and aligning the best domain specific multilingual websites. Starting from v.5.0, MyMemory is integrated into memoQ.
- Pseudo-translation (Added in memoQ 5.0.53). The new MT plugin allows you to pseudo-translate documents - a useful tool for SW localization, or for complex formats/workflows where you want a quick way to check if everything goes through memoQ, and comes correctly out, before actually translating.
- Regex-based text filter (Added in memoQ 5.0.53). What the regex tagger does inside a document, the new regex-based text filter does in the file to separate translatable content from the rest.
- TAUS plugin. Create your TDA account on the TAUS website and get access to the TAUS Data Association Repository through memoQ.
- Term extraction. Term candidates can now be extracted easily from all sorts of content in memoQ: translation documents, LiveDocs corpora, and translation memories.
- Terminal Server support (Added in memoQ 5.0.53). memoQ can now be installed on a terminal server, and used by several users logged it at the same time. Learn more about the terminal server by reading the relevant guide in the Resource Center.
- TM Repository integration. TM Repository is a concise and efficient translation memory management system that gives your organization maximum control over translation assets. With the release of memoQ 5.0, server users can now enter and manage all TM Repository entries directly from memoQ.
- TXML (Added in memoQ 5.0.53). You can now translate TXML files using memoQ, much the same way as you can translate TTX, bilingual RTF of XLIFF. Just use Add document.
- WebTrans. When working on team translation projects, memoQ translators could only work with an installed memoQ translator pro version. Working with WebTrans, there is now a third choice: translators can now work online through the web interface, and they don't even need memoQ installed on their own computer. - Smaller improvements include changing translation status manually, go to segment number, adding more target languages to your translation project, progress reporting based on words or characters, adding terms simultaneously to multiple term bases, and 20 other smaller features.
Licensing: memoQ 5.0 is a major new release of memoQ, available free of charge to those who have a valid annual upgrade contract. This automatically includes customers who purchased memoQ between June 1 and August 31 2008 or after July 1 2010. If you don’t have a valid upgrade contract, you can extend it here.
